This is a newly described parasitoid of honeybees that may act as a vector for CCD associated diseases and leads to hive abandonment behaviors similar to CCD. While likely not a direct cause of CCD it was found in commercial hives traveling the Western US and may threaten bees broadly. Chris Smith
