I am interested in reproductive biology, diversification and life history evolution. In my group, we employ insects as model organisms to study topics ranging from sexual selection to the genetics of metabolic rate. As our first genomic effort, we hope to conclude a de novo sequencing and assembly of the genome of one of our main model taxa: the Bruchid beetle Callosobruchus maculatus. This work will start during the summer 2012. Future planned work includes comparative genomics using species related to C. maculatus.
