Also known as the Australian bollworm, Helicoverpa punctigera is polyphagous crop pest and the larvae feed on various plants and are considered a pest for Tobacco, Flax, Peas, Lucerne, Sunflower, Cotton, Maize, Tomatoes and other crops. Despite existing in close proximity to Helicoverpa armigera which has rapidly developed resistance to a number of insecticides, there is limited information about the ability of H. punctigera to develop resistance in the field.
