  • I do comparative research on epithelial morphogenesis, specifically focusing on the reorganization events performed by the extraembryonic membranes as they develop and later withdraw during insect embryogenesis. More broadly, I am interested in all aspects of the evolution, diversity, and function of these extraembryonic membranes, which are a synapomorphy of the insects, are essential for development, and have been implicated in the radiation and evolutionary success of the insect lineage.

Additional key words: amnion; serosa; cell/ tissue architecture; live imaging; RNAi; red flour beetle (Tribolium castaneum); milkweed bug (Oncopeltus fasciatus)
