i5K Comments for Ochlerotatus caspius
Aedes caspius is present all along the Mediterranean border and has been suspected at many times to be involved in Rift Valley Fever transmission. In south Europa, its high abundance could compensate its low vector competence for chikungunya virus. Furthermore, its abundance in some touristic areas has a major economical impact and cost. This mosquito is already a pest and its potential involvement in the future transmission of arboviruses (CHIK, Dengue, Rift and west Nile viruses) is studied by many teams in South Europe and North Africa.
