Mountain Pine Beetle System Genomics - using genomics of the interacting bark beetles, fungal pathogens and host pine trees to improve forest ecological risk models and inform economic models for more reliable prediction of feedstock supply from renewable forest inventory for forest-based industry, such as the emerging lignocellulosic bioenergy industry.

This large-scale genomics research project on the mountain pine beetle (MPB) epidemic is now funded under Genome Canada’s competition in Applied Genomics Research in Bioproducts or Crops with cofunding provided by Genome British Columbia, Genome Alberta, and the University of Alberta.
