i5K Comments for Tuberaphis styraci
Eusocial species having 2nd-instar soldier nymphs. Soldiers and non-soldiers have the same genome, but are different in morphology, reproduction and behavior (Aoki & Kurosu 1989 Jpn. J. Entomol. 57:407). The primary symbionts have been replaced from buchnera to yeast-like symbionts (Fukatsu & Ishikawa 1992 J. Insect Physiol. 38:765). Gall-forming aphid. All aphids in a gall are genetic clones. Samples kept in the freezer or fixed in aceton are available. IAGC
